Her real name was Jadwiga Szayer. After completing vocal studies in Vienna and Milan under prof. Antonio Rupnick, she made her debut as Margarete in "Faustus" in Teatro Nazionale, Rome (1909). After this, she was invited to perform at Naples, Milan, Trieste, Venice, Florence, Madrid, Lisbone, Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev and Warsaw.
